SANDER Jean-Marie

Born on December 23, 1949, in Ohlungen (Alsace, France), Jean-Marie Sander took over the family farm specializing in hop production at the age of 20. Alongside his work as a farmer, Jean-Marie Sander held elected positions at Crédit Agricole d'Alsace: director of his local bank, director and then president of the Crédit Agricole d'Alsace regional bank, and then president of the Alsace and Vosges regional bank.
Within Crédit Agricole, Jean-Marie Sander also held national mandates. He sits on federal bodies: at the FNCA - National Federation of Crédit Agricole, which he chaired from 2003 to 2010, the year he was elected President of Crédit Agricole SA. He also chaired SAS Rue La Boétie, the majority shareholder of Crédit Agricole SA.
Alongside his responsibilities as a farmer and the mandates he holds at Crédit Agricole, Jean-Marie Sander became involved early on in the service of agriculture and, more generally, the economic and social life of his region. He was President of the Alsace Chamber of Agriculture until 2003 and President of the Alsace Economic and Social Council until 2010. From 2001 to 2010, he was a member of the National Economic and Social Council. Jean-Marie Sander was also Mayor of the commune of Ohlungen, Alsace.
Jean-Marie Sander was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation from March 5, 2012 to March 25, 2021. He has been a member of the Foundation's Compliance and Internal Control Committee since March 26, 2021. He has chaired the International Confederation of Crédit Agricole since October 2010. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the public utility Foundation "A Future Together."
Jean-Marie Sander is a Knight of the Legion of Honor, Officer of the National Order of Merit and Commander of Agricultural Merit.
