Context :
Despite the progress made (investments in education and infrastructure, increase in GDP of 7.2% in 2018) Rwanda remains a very poor country, where just under 40% of the population lives below the national poverty line.
The institution:
ASA Microfinance Rwanda Plc (ASA Rwanda) is a Tier 3 microfinance institution established in 2016 by ASA International. Its mission is to contribute to poverty reduction through economic empowerment by ensuring access to financial services to the disadvantaged community in Rwanda.
Impact :
ASA Rwanda provides loans using both group and individual methodologies. It primarily finances women, who represent over 95,000 million of its clientele, and operates primarily in rural areas.
