Context :
Kosovo has faced numerous economic challenges since its independence in 2008, compounded by recurring political crises. The pandemic and the war in Ukraine have exacerbated these difficulties, particularly inflation. The microfinance sector remains robust but relies heavily on foreign funding, while agriculture suffers from low production capacity, limiting the country's economic development.
The institution:
KosInvest is a Tier 3 microfinance institution established in 2001 by Vision Fund International. Registered as an NGO and supervised by the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBRK), it aims to improve the living standards of rural communities in Kosovo through a wide range of financial products and services: business loans, agricultural credits, and consumer credits.
Impact :
Its mission is: "To provide financial inclusion to communities living in the Republic of Kosovo and improve their standard of living, through a wide range of products and services." KosInvest provides loans according to the individual methodology.
